The literature on it is almost endless (as with all the books of the Bible). In our country, the various views of the book have been elaborated in detail by Dan Dr\u00e1pal in The Controversy over Job.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" id=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took notes on Job in 2020 when I spent part of the year in the hospital. It was an unplanned coincidence - and while I never dared to compare myself to Job in any way during the reading, it was certainly rewarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the question of the origin of evil in the world (theodicy) is one of the most mysterious and difficult, the Bible does not address it much. Even Jesus tended to avoid questions posed along these lines.<a id=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> The book of Job is an exception to this - Job's highly intelligent friends try their best <a id=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a> to find an answer as to how their good friend and good man could have met with something so disastrous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of their theories turn out to be wrong or downright harmful. Eventually, even God Himself \"can't stand it\" and inserts Himself into the discussion.
